Why is it SO much more expensive to rent a car one way than both ways? And are there ways around it?

My husband and I were planning on flying to Nashville, then renting a car and taking our time coming back to New York City. It will cost $700 to do that, plus airfare. If we rent a car from New York and drive both ways, it only costs $290! Why is this? Any companies specialize in one way cars?

Does anyone know a car rental company that rents cars to 18 year olds (i’ll be turning 19 the day after i rent the car)?

oh yeah ans also one that come with a GPS navigation system!!
i dont care that it costs, i know it does
but since i’ll be going alone it would be a lot better to have a GPS with the car =)

Do I need a special driver’s license to drive a rental car in Mexico?

Planning a trip to Mexico- what we want to do is fly into Mexico City and then rent a car and drive around… do we need a special license or anything- or is our US license along with the VISA fine? Never been out of the states before- please help with any information!

Underage car rentals near Boston, MA area?

I am going on college visits all around Massachusetts and would like to rent a car, however, I am only 18. Does anyone know of any place in Boston or near Boston that rents cars to drivers under the age of 21?
I’m flying into Boston from Iowa, so borrowing a friend’s car isn’t an option. It’s also not illegal to rent a car under age of 25, rental companies just don’t like to rent cars to people under that age because of lack of driving experience.

I don’t necessarily need to rent a car, but I was wondering if when I landed at the airport if I went to the rental car company and they had cars left if it would be cheaper than making the reservation a head of time.
