My Nissan 200sx has over 140k miles on it and I dont think it is going to go much further. I have been considering rebuilding the engine and extending its life rather than buying a new car. Does anyone out there have a good idea of how much I am going to be spending if I hire a mechanic to do the job?

they brought the car home and complained how all these things were wrong…the title was already signed and i explained how the car sale is final….they are trying to take me to court for it…saying how i sold them a car and are trying to get their money back because they thought i sold them a piece of crap…would they be able to get their money back…i was honest with them when selling the car…they had all the time they wanted to purchase the car they could have taken it to a mechanic and had them check it out…if i do get taken to court will they win the case? or would i because the car was never expressed with any warranty?

Ok I bought an old truck- and it won’t run when it’s “cold”. I remember my parents always saying things like that when I was younger but I want to make this truck my daily driver I really like it so what are possiable reasons for this. I was thinking it may be the carb or the choke..the truck is a 1987 dodge pu… what is the first thing I should do to try to fix it. I want to do it on my own so don’t tell me to take it to a mechanic. I bought an old vehicle so I could do the work myself.
Thanks ya’ll btw I did buy the chilton manual before I even got the truck home! lol. And I think 87 is old ’cause in 5 years it will be able to be registered as antique and by then I should be complete with a total restoration so it should be hot! LOL. I love 60’s cars too like the nova or the chevelle but I haven’t come across one in decent shape cheap enough 1-2g. I need to be able to drive it some too.

I know your suppose to take itb to your mechanic to have it checked but how does it work? do they just let u drive it there then return? i hear u shouldnt give deposits or sign anything so what will happen?

I have a 97 Honda Civic. I bought it for $4000 at 100000mi on it. Now in my 4years, I’ve added only 10,000mi more. I’m extremely careful in driving it. Only $200 maintenance needed in 4years. It was running perfectly until yesterday, when serious noise. My mechanic says crankshaft has broken, and I can
A) Have him rebuild by putting new crankshaft, bearings, etc. That would cost me $2300 including tax/labor
B) Buy another used engine (from lkqcorp.com, already has 70000mi on it) and put that into my car for $2500 total

Based on my small driving requirements what are the pros/cons of options A and B?Which is better?
If I were to instead just buy another used car (what year/mileage/cost?), would that be unnecessarily expensive for my needs?
If instead I get these same repairs done at a Honda dealer, what advantages for the extra cost?
What is the value of my Civic today/after-repairs? What chances of needing other expensive repairs in upcoming months?

How do you find out if the car you are interested in has a rebuilt engine before purchasing it is it any good…. I figure if i have to drive used cars because of less than perfect credit I would rather drive the cars my uncles and dad and ma drove than buying newer used models.. It’s an 86 monte carlo ss clean rebuild motor georgeous and as I stated before I want to get the most out of my money and willing to invest in the car but not right out of the park…… he wants 4000.00 I figure I’ll take it to my mechanic and run a diagnostic, but I want to know some obvious things before taking it to my grease monkeys especially about the rebuilt engine.. any suggestions?

I guess my ABS pump went out and it all comes with the EBCM module, etc…My mechanic cant find it anywhere. Any good online discount auto parts? Thanks.

I have a Vauxhall Vectra. It was making a tapping noise..just took to mechanic, who I trust, and he says that its the cambelt! Its only done 66k!! Thought that was a bit earlier as my Focus recommends a change at 100k. Luckily he spotted it or i would have been i trouble
