Our apartment gets 3 parking passes, but there are 5 of us with cars. Roomie won’t give up his pass, what now?
Now it’s time to switch and nobody will give up their pass. My other roommate without a pass doesn’t mind since he rarely uses his car anyway, but I use my car to drive to work in the evenings after college is done for the day. Having to constantly search for a street spot, and walk up to 10 or 15 minutes away to get my car is frustrating; my time is worth something! I am regularly spending between 20-45 minutes each day walking to and from my car, and looking for a spot to park.
Anyway, my name is on the lease but not on the utilities, so the best plan I could come up with is that I don’t pay utilities until I get a parking pass. It’s kind of the only leverage I have, right? Anyway, 2 questions: 1) Do you have a better idea? and 2) Can you be evicted if you are on a lease and pay your rent on time, but don’t pay your share of the utilities (Which aren’t in your name)? Help me out guys!
The only other idea I have is to sublet my room out to some terrible smelling student and just try to find someplace else to live.
I should point out that I already called for a house meeting over it, and when nobody showed up, I crashed movie night to do it. One guy (Resident douchebag, other guys are actually kind of cool otherwise) did all the talking and basically told me what I could go do with myself. I attempted the reasonable discussion and it failed miserably.
