Bought used car–not a week later it’s a Lemon.can I get my money back?

In North Carolina and had to buy a cheap used car while hubby’s in Iraq. I found a car that was in my budget and very clean & ran good, so I bought it. That was exactly 2 months ago.

On the 3rd day I owned it, the Check Engine light came on and stayed on. The strut started making an awful racket and I smelled exhaust something awful! Paid for an Inspection and found it needs a new:

Catalytic Convertor
Struts/Mounts
Drums, Rotors, Calipers
Oil Pan Gasket
Spark Plugs
O2 Sensors
and the Exhaust has a leak too!

I got quotes from 5 places in town and the average to repair this car is going to run $1600-$1800 (depending on extent of Labor needed).

I called the Dealer and they said they’d “take care of” it. They came & got the car for 3 days, leaving me a beat-up & barely running Loaner car, and then brought my car back with the Check Engine light STILL on and it running worse than ever. When I called the Mgr. of the Dealership he said “Well you didn’t expect it to be like new didja?! I ain’t fixing nothing!” and hung up. He hasn’t returned my calls since!

I called JAG and they said to consult a local Lawyer, but I don’t have the money for that. I only want my money back on this car OR the Dealer to cover the major issues that need fixed.

Is there any recourse against this shyster?!
