I’m looking for a cheap, yet decently powered car, any suggestions?

I’m looking for a car thats pretty decent performance wise, nice engine, or a car that i can drop a nice engine in. I have a little over 3 grand, i know its hard to work with, but i’m trying to find somthing decent.
Any suggestions?

find a honda like a crx/civic that does not run but isnt wrecked-most people would sell one for $500 and put a new engine in it-most junk yards have cars with engines that would work-if u buy a crx ask for a B18A1 out of a 93 integra and the transmission to go with it-it will cost around $800 for both so that $1300 spent with $1700 left for other mods or whatever-i did the exact thing and it runs like a beast.(fast and strong and reliable)
